Towering majestically above the Berchtesgadener Land - Mount Watzmann. Over 2700 meters ASL, the striking silhouette of Germany’s second highest mountain is a landmark of this south-eastern region of Bavaria.

In the south of the region the Berchtesgaden National Park – Germany’s only Alpine National Park – is a haven for walkers and mountain hikers and home to golden eagles and marmots. Who has not long wanted to glide peacefully over the world-famous Lake Königssee, gaze wistfully out at the magnificent mountain peaks from the top of the "Eagle’s Nest", stroll gently around the alleyways of the Mozart city of Salzburg or explore the underground secret world of a salt mine on the “SalzZeitReise”? Philharmonic Orchestra of Bad Reichenhall

Stroll through the pedestrian precinct of Bad Reichenhall where visitors are pampered with age-old health remedies using locally mined salt to the melodious accompaniment of the Philharmonic Orchestra playing Mozart and Beethoven.
The north of the region is just perfect for cycling: passed Germany’s warmest moor lake through the mysterious landscape of the moor and on to such idyllic little towns as Laufen and Piding.
